The Church "St. Virgin Mary"

The Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy. The Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary was built in 1834 with the money of the rich and the work of the poor residents of the Kalpakchiy neighborhood of Kazanlak under the guidance of the famous master from Adrianople Sandy Kostov. In 1836, with the assistance of the famous clergyman and enlightener Neofit Rilski, a school was opened in a building specially built to the church, which was among the first modern schools in Bulgaria. This church also housed the first Kazanlak community centre, founded in the late 1860s.
