Description
The Cathedral of St. Prophet Elias was the first Orthodox church in Kazanlak. In 1812, when the small church was built, in order not to annoy the Turks, only the roof of the temple was above ground. There were 12 steps going down inside. Later, the church was renovated with a donation from the Bozveli brothers. The new church had a five-meter dome with 12 windows and an almost two-meter iron cross.
